What is 360 degree feedback?

360° feedback (also called multi-rater review / 360° appraisal / 360° assessment) is a way of providing a person with feedback from a number of their colleagues. This provides them with an all round "360 degree" view of their performance from their manager, direct reports and peers.

Why use 360 degree feedback?

This method of reviewing someone's performance is extremely powerful and has a number of benefits:~
  • provides feedback from a number of different perspectives

  • considered less subjective than a single-view appraisal as a result of the aggregated results in the report

  • helps them see the impact of their performance on the people they interact with in their role


  • is a highly effective as a development tool as it provides insights which are difficult to obtain using other methods
